On the Road to a Sustainable Supply Chain

Our CleanJourney™ Commitment

Our Path to a Greener Future

At A. Duie Pyle, our dedication to sustainability isn’t just a policy; it’s embedded in our core values. Since 1924, principles like Integrity, Citizenship, and Service First have guided our operations.

These values form the foundation of CleanJourney™, our comprehensive sustainability program designed to reduce our environmental footprint and promote healthier communities.

We are actively investing in cleaner technologies and practices, from exploring solar energy and advanced safety equipment to implementing initiatives like our Renewable Diesel Program, which helps customers significantly reduce emissions.

Download our annual sustainability report for more information about our current sustainability efforts.

Our CleanJourney™ extends to making every mile traveled cleaner and more efficient. Through modern fleet design, we’ve achieved significant results: using LED lighting cuts energy use by up to 90% compared to incandescent bulbs, advanced clean diesel exhaust treatment cuts air pollution by up to 90%, and automatic transmissions with predictive cruise control improve fuel efficiency up to 10%.

Lowering Carbon Emissions With Innovative Designs

Fleet EFFICIENCY

Cab Fairing

see more about Cab Fairing

These panels smooth the airflow over the top of the tractor cab, especially when the trailer is taller than the cab. Cab side extenders help direct air away from the gap between the tractor and trailer. Both designs reduce aerodynamic drag, contributing to fuel savings.

Gap Reducer

see more about Gap Reducer

Gap reducers minimize the space between the tractor and the trailer, reducing pressure drag, leading to improved vehicle stability and better fuel efficiency.

Wheel Covers

see more about Wheel Covers

Smooth, aerodynamic wheel covers are fitted over the wheel hubs on both tractors and trailers. They prevent air from getting trapped in the spinning wheels, reducing turbulence and drag for improved fuel economy.

Trailer Skirt

see more about Trailer Skirt

Trailer skirts are panels installed along the underside of the trailer, between the landing gear and the wheel axles. They block wind from flowing underneath the trailer, reducing drag from the underbody and axles, significantly improving fuel efficiency at highway speeds.

Louvered Mud Flaps

see more about Louvered Mud Flaps

Unlike solid mud flaps that can increase drag, louvered or aerodynamic mud flaps feature vents or a design that allows air to pass through. This reduces wind resistance while still effectively controlling road spray and protecting the undercarriage.

Rear Fairing

see more about Rear Fairing

Often called “boat tails,” these devices extend from the rear of the trailer to streamline the airflow. They reduce the low-pressure vacuum wake that forms behind the trailer, significantly cutting down on aerodynamic drag and improving fuel economy, especially at higher speeds.

Partnerships & Recognition

A. Duie Pyle has been recognized for our commitment to lowering carbon emissions, implementing energy efficiency, and sustainable freight practices.

Our CleanJourney™ Timeline

A. Duie Pyle’s commitment to sustainability has evolved over two decades. Initial steps included foundational efficiencies like automated idle shut-off, speed limits, electric forklifts, and eco-driving training.

  • Fifteen years ago, we added aerodynamic trailer skirts and established our first solar-powered warehouse.
  • Ten years ago the piloting of electric straight trucks and the deployment of hybrid trucks began.
  • Five years ago, fleet upgrades included comprehensive aerodynamics packages and achieving 100% electric forklifts across 12 service centers.
  • Today, these efforts culminate in impactful programs like our CleanJourney™ Renewable Diesel option, offering substantial emissions reductions.

We’re excited for what future innovations will bring.
